Commanding Officer
LtCol C. M. Ferguson

Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson was born in Bakersfield, California and is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he received a B.S. in Aeronautical Science.  He commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2005 and reported to The Basic School, Quantico, VA.  Upon graduation and being assigned the 0302 MOS he attended Infantry Officer’s Course, Quantico, VA.

 

Upon completion of IOC, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson was assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California.  From October 2006 to June 2010, he served as a Platoon Commander and Company Commander.  In 2007, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 1st LAR Battalion and again deployed in 2009 with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).  While embarked aboard amphibious shipping, he trained alongside the French military in Djibouti, and both the New Zealand and Australian Armies in East Timor.  Following his deployment to Iraq he attended the Light Armored Reconnaissance Course and received the additional MOS of 0303. 

 

In July 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson reported to Detachment Hawaii, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry - West, MCB Hawaii, HI.  He served as both the Detachment Executive Officer and Officer in Charge.  During this assignment Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson was responsible for the training of the Infantry Squad Leaders Course, Scout Sniper Basic and Team Leader Courses, and Martial Arts Instructor Course.  Upon successful completion of this tour, he traveled to Quantico, VA to attend Expeditionary Warfare School career level school. 

 

From May 2014 to June 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson was assigned to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Camp Lejeune, NC.  He served as Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company Commander, Delta Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer.  In 2015 he deployed with the 26th MEU.  During this deployment he planned, executed and facilitated multiple bi-lateral exercises in Turkey, Portugal, Oman, and Jordan.  Additionally, as the Battalion Operations Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson led many Operational Planning Teams, staff planning groups, and coordinated numerous battalion-level exercises to include a battalion deployment for training to the Army National Training Center, Fort Irwin, CA to execute a force-on-force joint training exercise. 

 

In July 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson reported to Expeditionary Warfare School, Education Command, Quantico, VA.  During this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson served two years as Faculty Advisor and was the Infantry Occupational Field Expansion Course (OFEC) lead his final year.  He also successfully completed Command and Staff College Non-resident program before being selected for the UK Royal Marines Personnel Exchange Program.

 

In July 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson executed orders to 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines, Plymouth, UK.  As the Marine Corps exchange officer, he served as both the Brigade Training Officer and Plans Officer for activity in Indo-Pacific and Africa. 

 

Lieutenant Colonel Ferguson is a graduate of The Basic School, Infantry Officers Course, Light Armored Reconnaissance Leaders Course, Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques Course, Fire Support Coordinator Course, Special Operations Planning Course, and Expeditionary Warfare School.  His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguished Device, Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
