Lieutenant Colonel Harkness was born in Brownsville, TX. She graduated from Villanova University on a NROTC scholarship with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in May 2006. Upon completion of the Basic School and the Adjutant’s Course she reported to 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, NC in May 2007 to serve as the S-1 Officer.
